Help me discovering creative concepts

Lightbulb Drawn Onto Paper Whilst Brainstorming for an Idea.

This is actually what I have written to the creative director in the company I’m working for. And just so you know, right now I am working part time as a social media executive in a regional advertising agency. I guess it really fits my interest, and hopefully it will help me to the future career or something, I don’t know. But anyways, lately I’ve been reading a bunch of articles of how to unlock your inner creativity and stuff like that. However, I am facing the problem where I currently use the tortoise mind which brings me lots of anxiety in my brain.

The thing is I am right now on the process of making a proposal of my graduation project, and just so you know my topic is something that is related to the sharing of happiness and the interaction in family, friends or even professional people. I don’t know if it will sound interesting, but I just want to remind people to have the interaction and to create a bond in their relationships. And especially to cut down the use of smartphone or the digital devices that slowly killing the actual conversation and their social skills (which surprisingly I am one of the victims).

So, for now I am scoping my topic to be “the impact of digital addiction toward interpersonal relationships.” And, I am required to do three 1-min TV social spots related to my topic. In there, I am going to separate each spots to have different target audiences: Teenagers, Family and Professionals (another alternative is Romantic partners).

However, the deal is I do not know how to put things happen. It’s like I know that I can do it, but I just don’t know where to start and how to have this new idea to pop up in my brain, and thing like the effective tool that I use to communicate to the audience. By tools here I mean whether it is an animation, stop-motion, or just a normal acting.

Sometimes I have a lot of inspiration and ideas going on in my brain but I just do not know how to put it into action, and once I want to put it into action, I do not know which part I should start. So, I want to ask all of you readers (in case you have any ideas and would like to share me some ideas) some questions if you don’t mind:

1. In your experience, how do you decide that the proposed ideas should or shouldn’t be put in TV ads? For example, when I join in the meeting I saw a lot of good ideas that being proposed but eventually you will shape it and choose only one tremendous idea that will be put on TV ad. How do you decide which one is the best and fit with the theme?

2. Because TV ads may sometimes lead audiences to confuse the message, and that the TV ad is focusing on one thing too much that it might sound really biased. For example, in my topic: I cannot generalize that all people are obsessed with their smartphones. I know we can set the target audience to limit the knowledge of the message but not many people would think the same way.  In this case what should I do? (This answer would help me a lot when I am defending my ideas to the public.)

3. Is there any content that I should avoid while producing the TV ad? Any suggestion?

These are things that I am willing to know from the experts. Unfortunately, I didn’t get to trained much in creating advertising content at my school even though last year I had a marketing/advertising class (which focus more on marketing than advertising). So, I have to do research all by myself. But please help and guide me to enlightenment with this.
